What are the start times and length of each session?

The CFGdegree will usually take place from 18:30-20:30PM GMT/BST - but it sometimes varies depending on regions. The classes take place from Monday - Thursday, and there is a short break in the middle of each session.

The CFGdegree takes place over the course of 16 weeks, with a reading break after the first 7-week stage. To view more specific CFGdegree dates please click here

Expectations and commitment

All CFGdegree learners are expected to achieve at least 80% attendance. While session recordings are available for times when attending isn't feasible, you must still meet the 80% threshold to achieve a passing mark. Attendance for all live exams and project presentations are mandatory.

Please note: even if you are within the 80% requirement, you will need authorisation from the Programmes Team if you plan to miss more than three sessions in a single week, or if you expect to be away from the course for more than a consecutive week. Although some absences may be authorised, you must have access to WiFi throughout the course in order to watch session recordings, complete assignments and contribute to the group project. Attendance for live exam sessions and the project presentation session are mandatory to pass the course.

What platforms/software do I need?

All students will be sent a set-up guide prior to their course beginning detailing which software they will need to download. Optional installation sessions with our Tech Team are also available and we would definitely recommend booking a space if you are unsure! All course materials are free of charge and we will not ask for payment to use them.

If you are having trouble downloading the software, please ensure that you are using the free/community version of each platform. Please also make sure that your device is up-to-date with the latest software and that you have permission to download software to the device.

I have a space on an upcoming Tech Taster/Coding Kickstarter - can I do both?

We would suggest keeping your Tech Taster/Coding Kickstarter place if your CFGdegree space has not been confirmed yet, as spaces are very competitive and not guaranteed. If you are successful in gaining a space and would like to un-enrol from a Tech Taster or Coding Kickstarter, please complete the relevant form:

Tech Tasters Un-enrolment Form

Coding Kickstarters Un-enrolment Form

Can I withdraw from the CFGdegree?

If you are a current student and would like to withdraw from the CFGdegree because you're finding the course too difficult or too time-consuming, our approach depends on the circumstances and your level of engagement.

For students with valid or extenuating circumstances that prevent them from completing the course, and they communicate this to the Programmes team, we can review their situation. Where appropriate, they would still be eligible to reapply to the programme in the future when their circumstances allow.

However, if a student simply stops engaging with the course (e.g. ghosts us, doesn’t contribute to group work, stops attending, and doesn’t submit assessments) without communicating with the Programmes team, we would classify them as a dropout. In those cases, they would not be eligible to apply for the programme again in the future.

Where possible, please reach out to the Programmes team via Slack before making a final decision. The team is more than happy to discuss any support or options that may be available!

We never ask students to pay for the CFGdegree - before OR after! 🚫

FYI: We will always email you from a @codefirstgirls.com email address. Please report and block any spam emails.
